Annual Support Limit
Up to 5,000,000KRW per year(Including financial support for campus injury)
Annual period : Beginning day of spring semester ~ The day before beginning day of next spring semester
- Annual support limit for some NHI non-covered items
- non covered dental treatment : 200,000KRW ~ 500,000KRW
- non-covered rehabilitative therapy : up to 100000KRW
- non-covered hospital admission expenses : 30% of expenses(Max 50,000KRW per day)
Financial support for campus injury has priority.
Impossible to receive medical allowance and financial support in duplicate
If financial support is overpaid annual support limit, you must return the SHIA support amount you received.

Medical expenses outside of Korea are excluded from medical allowance. SHIA membership is only effective in Korea.

Other unsupported treatments
- Purchases of products in KAIST Clinic and every hospital / medical institution
- Non-covered treatments by NHI from Plastic surgery and Dermatology
- All kinds of cosmetic treatments from ENT, Urology, Family medicine, Surgical, neurology, Ophthalmology, Ob-Gyn etc.
- Treatment for Varicose vein, Liposuction, Osmidrosis, Snoring(Polysomnograpy, sleep apnea syndrome), Gynecomastia and Stem cell therapy
- Consultation fee processed as NHI uncovered fee, other treatments conducted without NHI covered consultation fee, etc.(excluding dental, ob-gyn, mental health clinics, Rehabilitative therapy and physiotherapy)
- Test fees without doctor’s opinion, uncovered food expenses, other expenses unrelated to treatment(including medical certificate issuance fee, etc.)
- Drugs from pharmacies(including oriental medicine from oriental clinics), obesity treatments, skin disease(eczema, hair loss, etc) and other cosmetic treatments etc.
- Treatment expenses incurred since NHI subscriber has received medical treatment by converting to a general patient at his/her own choice
- Adult vaccination fee(Excluded : 50% support for tetanus fee, 5,000KRW support for influenza in KAIST Clinic)
- Vision correction treatments(Lasik, Lasek, squint eye correction, lenses, etc.)
- Other vitamins, hormonal therapy, injections, drugs etc. for boosting energy or recovery from fatigue
- Treatment for which 3rd parties are liable such as traffic accidents (including motorcycles) and battery injuries
- Health check ups and other test fees arising during health check ups
- Medical expenses already subsidized by financial support and industrial accident insurance
- Tax on treatment fee and discounts applied to treatment costs for various reason(including insurance coverage)
- Card receipts, sales receipts, simplified bills etc. cannot be accepted.
- Other costs arising outside of medical institution such as braces and guards
- Treatments expired 90 days since its payment date(Must be applied within 90days)
