The Strawberry Party is KAIST’s signature event that has been held for more than 20 years. Every April when the campus brims with cherry blossoms, students, faculty, and staff gather together to share strawberries. Hundreds of boxes of strawberries are purchased from local farms, helping both the farmers and ensuring that there are plenty of delicious berries to go around.
Student rock bands and famous rock artists get the crowd riled up during this festival, the biggest summer festival at KAIST. Food tents and exhibition booths also fill the campus, attracting many Daejeon residents.
Archrivals KAIST and Postech compete in sports and cyber hacking competitions during this two-day event. The two universities take turns hosting the event every September.
Musicians take the stage at the KAIST amphitheater in October. Diverse events such as flea market, food market, and ceramics experience program are open to the public.
The KAIST International Student Association (KISA) hosts the International Food Festival every May. International students cook their home countries’ foods and members of the KAIST community welcome the general public to share more than 60 different types of dishes from around 20 countries every year.
