Guide of the Period for Add and Drop and Payment of Tuition Fee for Winter Semester 2012(Revision)
This is guide for the period for ‘Add and Drop the courses’ and payment of tuition fee for Winter semester 2012.
Student who likes to take the courses offered during Winter semester, please refer to the following information.
1. The Period for Add and Drop : From Wednesday, December 26, 2012, 12:30 p.m. to Friday, December 28, 2012, 23:59 p.m.
2. The Maximum Credits for Application : 9 credits(including research credits)
(It"s the same for undergraduate, master and Ph.D students.)
3. The way to add and drop courses : Log on to Portal(http://portal.kaist.ac.kr) and access to "Academic system" on Hot menu and you can apply for new courses, or Add and Drop is possible for the courses already applied for.
※ You can apply for the courses on the web, even though you didn"t apply for any courses during the previous Course Registration period.
4. Procedure for Add and Drop
* Log on to Portal(http://portal.kaist.ac.kr) with your Portal ID and Password
* Access to "Academic system" on Hot Menu
* Check the courses and syllabuses offered for Winter session
: Portal -> Academic system -> Class Enrolment -> Course Registration
* Add Courses with "Application" button or Drop the courses with "Delete" button
* When you finished Add and Drop, press the "Completion" button
: "Completion" button will be changed to "Print", after you press it.
* Click "Print" button and print out "Course Add/Drop Application"
* Get the signature from your adviser on the form of add or drop
* Submit it to the office of your department.
(If your major is not decided yet, submit it to the Academic Registrar"s Team)
※ If you"d like to add or drop courses, after you pressed the button "completion", you can add and drop courses if you ask staff in Academic Registrar"s Team(T.2361~2367) to undo the completion.(Only during the Add and Drop Period.)
5. Payment of tuition fee for Winter semester and retaking course
1) Subject to payment of tuition fee
- Undergraduates : If you take the course for undergraduate or the course which can be counted as either bachelor or master courses credits, you"re required to pay tuition fee. And if you re-take the course, you need to pay the tuition fee for retaking in addition to the basic tuition fee(per credit).
- Graduates : If you take the graduate course, you don"t have to pay tuition fee, but if you take the course for undergraduate or the course whose code started with 400 among the course which can be counted as either bachelor or master courses credits, you"re required to pay tuition fee.
2) The deadline to pay tuition fee: Wednesday , December. 26, 2012 ~ Friday, December 28, 2012
3) The amount of money for payment
- Basic tuition fee: 75,000 won per 1 credit(for individual course as well )
- Tuition fee for retaking : 75,000 won per 1 credit(In addition to the basic tuition fee)
ex) Students retaking a 3 credit course (make-up course) should pay 450,000 won [(75,000 won * 3) + (75,000 won * 3)]
4) Payment method : Fill out a bill for the Winter tuition and pay at Woori bank on campus.
(The bills are provided at the bank) or Internet Banking is available.
Despositor"s Name : Last 5 digits of your Student ID Number with your name.
Account Number : Please refer to Attachment (Payment Bill)
5) Measure to the student who doesn"t pay the tuition fee during the term for payment
: If student doesn"t pay the tuition fee or fee for retaking, the course would be cancelled with "W"mark, and the student list would be sent to the dean of the department/major.
6. Matters that requires your attention
1) You"re required to apply for the courses during the Add and Drop Period only,
using Academic System(http://portal.kaist.ac.kr).
2) Other person can"t apply for courses instead of you, and you can log on to the system for course registration with your Portal ID and Password.
※ Reference regarding Portal ID : 350-3746
3) Student who is supposed to be graduated in February, 2013 can not apply for the courses.
