We'd like to make an announcement of 2014 Summer Semester[2014. 6. 30(Mon)~2014. 8. 14(Thu)]. Detailed information on class lists, course registration, add/drop courses, withdrawal from courses, and tuition payment is as below.

A. Course lists : Portal( http://portal.kaist.ac.kr ) ⇒ Academic System ⇒ Courses Offered
B. Number of credits : The maximum of 9 credits (including research credits) are allowed. (Applicable to undergraduate, master's and Ph.D. courses)
C. Course registration
1) Period : 2014. 5. 7(Mon)~5. 9(Wed)[3 days]
2) Use : Web System
3) The system will be open from 12:30 on May 7(Mon) to 23:59 on May 9(Wed)
4) Procedure
Check the class lists on Web→ Register for classes on Web→Print out
the completed registration form → Obtain guidance professor's signature and submit the form to the Academic Registrar’s Team (ART).
5) Matters to be attended while registering
① Students must apply for courses during the given period only.
② Students who want to reschedule after completing registration can change(add/drop) courses during the given period.
③ Online application system requires a portal access (with PORTAL ID)
※ For more information regarding PORTAL ID, contact Management Info. Team(ext. 3746).
④ Individual research for undergraduates courses are offered by all the Departments, and students may apply for the courses (with the guidance of their thesis advisor or professor in the Division of their interest.) regardless of the number of credits that they have previously earned
⑤ Graduation research courses are not offered during the summer semester in accordance with the guidelines for the operation of undergraduate research courses
⑥ Students who are expected to graduate in a particular year can not take any summer courses offered during that same year.
D. Payment for regular and make-up Summer courses
1) ▫ Students registering for regular summer courses must pay tuition fees for the courses.
▫ Students registering for make-up summer courses must pay tuition fees plus make-up fees.
※ Remarks
☞ Undergraduates applying for an “Individual research" course must pay a tuition fee for the course.
2) Payment period : 2014. 6. 30(Mon)~2014. 7. 4(Fri)
3) Amount :
ㅇ Payment for regular courses : 75,000 won per credit
ㅇ Payment for make-up courses : 50,000 won per credit (in addition to regular tuition payment)
ex) Students retaking a 3 credit course (make-up course) should pay 375,000 won [(75,000 won * 3) + (50,000 won * 3)]
4) Payment method : Fill out a bill for the summer tuition and pay at Woori bank on campus.(The bills are provided at the bank)
5) Students who fail to pay their tuition fees(and make-up tuition) on time receive "W" grade on their transcript for the courses; the list of the students who failed to pay tuition fees is submitted to the head of the relevant Department/Division.
E. Add/drop Courses
1) Period : 2014. 6. 30(Mon)~7. 4(Fri)
2) Use : Web System
3) The system will be open from 12:30 on Jun 30(Mon) to 23:59 on Jul 4(Fri)
4) Procedure
Change the classes on the Web→ Print out a sheet detailing the change made → Obtain guidance professor's signature and submit the form to the Academic Registrar’s Team (ART).
F. Withdrawal from courses
1) Period : 2014. 7. 7(Mon)~2014. 7. 11(Fri)
2014. 7. 7(Mon) 12:30~2014. 7. 11(Fri) 23:59
2) Use : Web System
3) Procedure : same as the procedure for add/drop courses
4) Miscellaneous
▫ Students are not allowed to apply for other courses (only withdrawal is allowed) during the given period.
※ Students are not allowed to withdraw from courses after the given period.
▫ The grade of a withdrawn course is not included in the grade point average; students are given a "W" (withdrawal) on their transcripts.
