Registration Guide for the 2016 Spring Semester

2016 Spring semester registration procedure and methods are as follows:

1. Registration period: Jan. 6, 2016(Wed) ~ Jan. 12(Tue)

    <1st period>
  • 12:30 ~ 23:59 on Jan. 6(Wed) (Open enrollment without ceilings for all the courses)

    Jan. 7(Thu): No registration is possible

  • Final student lists for the courses will be announced before 12:00, Jan. 8(Fri)

    ▶ Students will be randomly selected for the courses that exceed their enrollment ceilings; final student lists for the courses will be announced.(on portal)

    <2nd period>
  • 12:30 on Jan. 8(Fri) ~ 23:59 on Jan. 12(Tue)
    (Students may register for the remaining courses on a first-come first-serve basis)

3. The system opens

  • from 12:30 to 23:59 on Jan. 6(Wed)
    <2nd >
  • 12:30 on Jan. 8(Fri) ~ 23:59 on Jan. 12(Tue)
    (Students may register for the remaining courses on a first-come first-serve basis)

4. Venues: Anywhere students use PC (not available on mobile equipment)

5. Registration procedure

1) Choose(Retrieve) classes from the lists: Porta
   ◦ Portal( http://portal.kaist.ac.kr ) ⇒ Academic System ⇒ Courses Offered
2) Web registration: Portal( http://portal.kaist.ac.kr ) ⇒ Academic System

6. Registration is open for all current students(Undergraduates, Master's and Ph.D. students), matriculating graduate students, and returning students(Undergraduates, Master's and Ph.D. Students expected to return to school 2016 Spring Semester)

7. Miscellaneous

A. Students included in the final lists (of the courses exceed their enrollment ceilings) can not cancel the courses during the registration period.
   (However, during the Add/drop period, students may change or cancel their classes.)
B. Students must take required EFL courses within first FOUR (4) SEMESTERS after entering KAIST. After fourth semester, enrollment in EFL courses is NOT allowed during Spring/Fall semester.
C. Registration for elective general courses in humanities & social science: limited to 4 subjects on the 1st period.
